Ella's 4th of July misfitted outfit

I think this could have been a great outfit but I just rushed the color choices and it looks cheap. (At least the shorts do) I need to just slow down and make that extra trip to the fabric store. Maybe I will try www.fabric.com or www.fashionfabricsclub.com. I ordered fabric from fabric.com and have been pretty happy with the speed and quality. The other one I just found today. I would order more fabric but I am now backed up by approx. 12 items. 1 dress(me), 2 shirts (jimmy), 3 capris and 6 tops for Elise. I don't even want to count the costumes I am supposed to make and sale for the mountain man stuff.

a couple of outfits that I wish I hadn't made

These were from McCall's 5419 and they were very easy to make. the problem is they look simple, and kind of dorky. The shorts were way too long. I rehemmed them and I think they could still loose another inch. Oh well, more outfits I made right before our Tenkiller trip so Elise would have enough shorts. I bought the blue fabric at Joann's and the red fabric is from a box of fabric a friend inherited from her deceased grandmother. Fairly retro, 80ish. I try to make the girls' a July 4th themed outfit everyyear and this year I was just not happy with what I spit out. Oh well. I will try to redeem myself next year.

Catching up

I've actually made several things but been busy and not had time to post or review anything. I have to keep the kids and myself busy for the next couple of months so we don't dwell on James being overseas. This is my ode to waitress at every roadside diner. Maybe I can get a part time job!

This is another quick afternoon project. Using up more bargain fabric bought at Hancock's this winter. Tropical reef dress for Miss Ella. She has been pestering me to make something for her. Hope this appeases her while I finish up some other stuff.
